No ? about it…Reese Witherspoon in Walk The Line
I could watch that movie over and over for the music alone. Then you get into talking about her singing. I loved it. I could listen to Wildwood Flower like 100 times before I’d get tired of it. I really loved that movie. Most movies about famous people like June and Johnny, I usually don’t like. I was very hesitant to see this movie because of who it was about. I’m very big fans of both. When I found out who would be playing the two, I became a little more excited, then finally I heard one of the songs from the movie and had to go watch. I love it and her in it. Why didn’t see ever tell us she could sing?

Gwyneth all the way. She was pregnant, had bad morning sickness, and had just lost her dad, yet, had a kick-arse performance!

I loved The interpreter. Too bad the Academy waits for the movies released in December. And just like the Academy, you forgot to include Renee Zellwegger for Cinderella Man.

Maria Bello..she bought believability to the role of a woman who discovers that the man she loves isn’t exactly what he seems

I would have to say either Charlize for North Country or Naomi Watts for King Kong. Reese got way to much attention for playing June Carter. She didn’t look anything like her for one. PLue she didn’t really sound that same either….Shouldn’t that be important when depicting a real life person?

It would have to be Ziyi Zhang who is like a procelain doll in her movies. Who can forget her performance in Crouching Tigers, Hidden Dragon! In Geisha she is perfectly cast and is just beautiful in her full regalia. I’ve seen her in other foreign movies and she is excellent each time. She was wasted in Rush Hour and was put in for eye candy. She is a worthy actress and American cinema should sit up and take notice.

Reese of course!! She was very good in Walk The Line, I also think she is very talented as A singer, I love her voice, she sounded better singing Wildflower than June Carter Cash.

amm…i choose everybody else expect charlie Theron because she diss Halley berry last year And then give some pretense apology saying she never insulted Halley. but ppl fail to realize that one Charlie is from south Africa and they are racial ppl living in a racial community!!! that is why I was happy her 2 movies north country and Aeon flux flop at the box office. Don’t give me wrong i had respect for Charlie but after that remark she made about Halley i thought that was wrong and unprofessional. Everybody knows that Halley is a good person and she doh criticize other Hollywood celebs like some other celebs. She is respected for her work as an actor and as a good person. So as my grandpa use to say “What goes around comes around”.

I have not seen North Country, but Charlize Theron usually give an outstanding performance, no matter what character she plays, but my sentimental favorite is Reese Witherspoon.
She truly captured the spirit of June Carter, and I thought her performance was just amazing, especially since other than dying her hair dark, didn’t attempt to use make-up to look like June, nor did she try to copy June’s voice, she used her own abilities, and she truly captured the spirit of the woman who fell into a ring of fire. ( a song she wrote, about her feelings for Johnny Cash)

Rachel Mcadams does a good job, as do the others on the list; that said, I am partial to ziyi zhang : memoirs of a geisha, despite all the hype of her nationality — she did well with Michelle Yeoh.

nicole kidman is my role model… she rules!

Reese Witherspoon… great actress!! i haven’t seen “walk the line” yet, but i like her a lot, she’s talented, pretty, on the “A” list, she has one of the cutest actors as beloving husband (mmmm… b!tch, haha just kidding), and shes’s still down to earth!!

ziyi zhang… she did a great job, and it was specially hard to make a movie in TWO languages you don’t know, and doing it with an accent you don’t own… WOW!

kirsten dunst … great actress, but in adulthood she has taken relatively easy roles for her (except when she is in a concentration camp), i’d really love her doing something more dramatic like she did in interview with the vampire, she has lots of talent, i’d love her to show it more often

Charlize Theron in North Country
(My reasoning being Sally Fields in Norma Rae and Meryl Streep in Ironwood – those are the movies and performances that deserve recognition).

And I agree, just like the Academy, you forgot Renee Zellweger in Cinderella Man. And why can’t Dame Judi Dench ever…EVER catch a break?!?
