Question by MM20: Calculating College GPA: “A” vs. “A-”?
Hi, all!

I’m trying to accurately calculate my college GPA, and I’m having some confusion. All online GPA calculators I’ve seen have been as specific to ask if I received an “A” or an A-” in the class, which made me stress a little bit because if you have all A-’s according to this calculator, you do not have a 4.0-you have to have full “A’s” for a 4.0. However, I then had someone tell me that any “A” equals a 4.0 in college, regardless if it’s a “-”, regular, or “+”.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me?
Thanks!

Question by Ryan M: cumulative gpa for class retakes?
say i have a 3.0 cumulative gpa from 70 semester hours. I have to get to a 3.2 by the end of the summer. So i am retaking two classes, at 3 semester hours each. how do i calculate what i need to get in these two classes to raise my gpa from a 3.0 to 3.2?
would i just enter 3.0 as my cumulative gpa on a gpa calculator and put 64 (70 – 6 retake hours) as the weight, and put my hypothetical retake class grades at a weight of 6?

You’ve got the weighting idea OK. Just work it and you’ll be there.

My take on this is you’re asking, “What is the least amount of work I have to do to get a 3.2 gpa?”
Why not just go all out and get As and you know you’ll be covered. It might be a philosophy you should adopt. That’s my $ .02 worth.

Question by : I need a 3.7 GPA the most I can get is 3.69, what should I do?
To be accepted into University of Florida’s Business College I must receive 3.7 GPA for all of 7 preprofessional courses (not a 3.7 for each course, a combined average of 3.7). http://warrington.ufl.edu/sb/admissions/ppcourses.asp

I took 2 of the preprofessional courses (ECO 2013, CGS 2531) to earn my AA about a year ago, before I realized I wanted to major in Finance. Unfortunately, I had some trouble with the classes and receieved a C+ in ECO 2013 and a B+ in CGS 2531.

I used the GPA calculator on UF’s website and found that I will need all A’s in the remaining 5 classes to get the minimum 3.7 GPA.

But on the page that lists the required preprofessional courses it says that ACG 2021C is a 4 credit course, but the ACG 2021 course that I am taking at the junior college, that I am currently enrolled at, is only a 3 credit course. So when I use the GPA calculator and put 3 credits instead of 4 for ACG 2021C, the maximum GPA that I can achieve is a 3.69.

UF does not round the GPA. Is there anything I can do? Anything to boost my GPA? Any ideas at all? Please help.

In most Universities if you take a class over that grade will replace the first one (even if it is lower so be careful). So if you have time to wait before applying into the business school you should re-take ECO 2013. If you can pull an A that might be able to push you up (you’ll have to do the math on that one, sorry).

Question by DN: Mummy 3: Tomb of the…???
Did you guys like it?

I hadn’t seen the first two, but my friend said it was a new plot (versus the first two being about the same mummy) and so we went.

Pretty good plot, cheesy lines, Brendan Fraiser kicking butt. I mean it wasn’t like the greatest thing ever, but better (in my opinion) then some other summer movies. Maria Bello comes off a little special, but these amazing Yetis (Abdominal Snowmen) have a small role and I love, love, love them.

If you like entertaining movies i would say the mummy series because they have alot of action. I would see the third one if you like movies like that. It has some humor.

forum for mothers

Question by desiderio: Does no one have a mother anymore?
I see SO many questions regarding pregnancy/childrearing issues, and I was just wondering what happened to communicating with people you actually know? I realize that the variety of experiences is vastly greater on a forum like this, but women USED to ask their mothers/aunts/relatives/friends even their doctors about what was normal for pregnancy and the behavior of their children, and up until recent history, that’s all the choice they had. Does no one have a mother that they talk to anymore?
While I totally agree with the point that all these children, barely teenagers, on here asking about sex and pregnancy (things I learned both at home and in school by the age of 11) is insane, I was in fact referring to the adults this time.

I’m an only child, and I know that my pregnancy and child rearing experience is not going to be the same as my mother’s. What she went through is not the be all and end of all of knowledge on the subject and neither her nor I would every try to claim it as such. But she’s still the first person I turn to with questions.
And I already acknowledged the vast wealth of experience provided here compared to elsewhere.

But I do think it is disheartening that so many people turn to strangers rather than people they know, who could possibly give better answers since they have a knowledge of the person’s history and full story.

I have a mother to talk to. The only problem is the fact that she had 3 children and NO problems. Me on the other hand, I have threatened pre term labor issues, high blood pressure issues, and just terrible pregnancies in general. She would not be able to tell me anything, as she has never been through it. I think people ask because they want to see if anyone else has been through something.

Question by michelle30119: How can I put my website on my resume?
I’ve created a website for teen mothers. I use a site Bravenet.com and a forum site through Proboards.com. How can I incorporate this into my resume as experience?
What is the best way to describe what I’m doing? I’m applying for a manager position with my current company who does technical support for Sprint. What I’m wondering is how should I list myself. Website owner? Website operator? What is the best way to put this on a resume as far as wording?

Best answer:

Answer by tonalc1
You can list it under “Other Experience,” and pretty much describe it as you did here.

forum for mothers

Question by Charlie D: Important question about women and mothers?
This is kind of a weird question, but from my experience…it kind of seems like my mom, grandma and just women in general are very scary to me. It just seems like they get an almost (sexual) kick out of my humiliation. Are their any women out there who can admit to this, or explain it? Like for instance opening doors while I’m changing (when they know I’m in there), and pretending its an accident. Umm telling everyone about very private matters that pertain to me. Every girfriend I have ever had, I tell them very serious secrets and I trust them to be just between us, but every one of them always tells all their friends. Other things really bother me too, like I was just in a new born baby forum, and I’ve seen alot of questions from mothers about their son’s genitalia. (like really odd questions) Concerned like waaaay too much about it. Ya know? They were even calling their own baby sons genitals slang terms…that just seriously freaked me out! If I had a daughter I would NEVER refer to her genitalia in slang terms. It just seems to me like women are really, really, clever and tricky pedophiles to me, and I just honestly dont know how I can go on in life, knowing that there’s never gonna be a member of the opposite sex that isnt very ill in the head, yet hides behind innocense. I’m honestly thinking about suicide cause of it. I know thats lame as hell sounding…but it really f’n affects me, and makes me hate life.

You’re clearly too young and immature to understand the bond a MOTHER has with her child. How many female pedophiles do you know? :/ For goodness sake, women have all the right in the world to be concerned for their son’s health. You need counselling, sharp!
